Location:

  • The Vermillon project is located in the Mauricie region, about 90 kilometres southwest of the town of La Tuque and about 150 kilometres northwest of the city of Trois-Rivières, Quebec.

Property:

  • The property consists of 40 claims covering a surface area of about 23.4 square kilometres.

Highlights:

  • Sequence characterized by a paragneiss assemblage with calc-silicate gneiss (impure marble, diopsidite, scapolite- and diopside-rich rocks), garnet-sillimanite gneiss and charnockitic gneiss. Migmatites, metagabbro and diorite intrusions are also reported, as well as a granitic stock covering more than 150 km2 with charnockitic satellite intrusions.
  • This part of the Grenville Province is known to host the following types of mineral deposits:
    • Gold-rich massive sulphides such as the Montauban and Calumet mines;
    • SEDEX (sedimentary exhalative sulphide mineralization) similar to deposits in the Balmat-Edwards district;
    • Skarn deposits (Lachabel and Cran Bornite projects).
  • In the region, the following deposits are known:
    • Dussault: polymetallic sulphides (Zn-Pb-Cu-Ag-Au) hosted in calc-silicate rocks.
    • Lac Edouard: Ni-Cu.
  • Accessible using gravel roads from La Tuque (90 kilometres) or from Saint-Michel-des-Saints (65 kilometres). Several lakes and rivers in the area provide access by floatplane.
  • In the north part of the property, decimetre-scale oxide-rich rocks host Cu-Au mineralization. Assay results show values up to 2.1 g/t Au, 1.13% Cu and 12.6 g/t Ag.

Partnership:

  • Joint Venture between Midland (50%) and Soquem (50%). Soquem is project operator.
